How we’re helping to educate industry professionals

There’s a popular, old saying that goes, “give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you’ve fed him for a lifetime.” There’s a lot of truth in that statement. Here at AGC of Washington, our commitment to education is intended to do the very same.

We strongly believe that education is the key to providing a better, safer, and more effective construction workforce. The AGC Education Foundation is the premier education resource for the construction industry in Washington state.

Our programs not only benefit current industry professionals, they also are helping to train and educate future generations of contractors. If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out our offerings, we would highly recommend doing so. Here’s a brief overview of some of our offerings:

Classes. Expanding your professional knowledge not only increases the services you’ll be able to offer future clients, it also helps ensure you’re familiar with modern industry trends and techniques. Our continuing education classes cover a wide variety of topics including computer courses, construction leadership, construction quality management and even CESCL: stormwater management. Scholarships. Scholarships make it possible for students of all economic backgrounds to access higher education. The generosity of individual donors and businesses has given us the ability to offer scholarships ranging in monetary value from $1,000 all the way up to $10,000. Not only that, but they apply to four-year institutions, community colleges, and even trade schools. For more information go here.

Workforce Development. The future of our industry lies in the hands of young people. Our workforce development programs introduce elementary and high school aged kids to the benefits and rewards of participating in the world of construction. These initiatives not only give kids a hands-on experience they also open up a world of career opportunities they may have never thought possible.
