Many people use YouTube to catch up on current events or wind down after a long day at the office. But the platform is also an invaluable resource. If you want to enhance your professional skills and knowledge, there are plenty of channels dedicated to carpentry, plumbing and other skilled vocations. Since there are so many options to choose from, we thought it would be fun to highlight a few of our favorite creators.
The Home Depot Channel. The Home Depot is one of America’s most famous hardware stores. What you might not know is that the company has an amazing YouTube channel that’s updated multiple times a day. Most videos are under five minutes but feature high-quality information you won’t find anywhere else. Whether you need help installing a new water filter or you’re planning to refinish your deck, there’s a step-by-step guide that’s sure to help.
The Construction Channel. The Construction Channel is a one-stop shop for all things architecture, general contracting and construction. Each week, the channel uploads engaging and informative stories, including industry news, updates on markets and materials, and entertaining content from the world of builders. We especially love the documentary series “Six Figures, No Suits,” which takes viewers behind the scenes of the foundation drilling industry.
The DIY Network. If you dream about construction even on the weekends, you’ll want to subscribe to the DIY Network YouTube channel. This one isn’t updated as frequently as other channels on our list, but the content that’s available is worth your time. Aside from posting tutorials and instructional videos, DIY Network uploads episodes of its most popular cable shows, including hits like First Time Flippers and Rehab Addict.
This Old House. This Old House is America’s most trusted home improvement brand. If you spend your free time flipping houses or diving into DIY projects, this channel is for you. New videos are posted each day of the week and cover various topics, including shingling, tiling, painting shudders and more.
These are just a few of the MANY YouTube channels dedicated to construction and the skilled trades. Are there any channels you watch regularly that you’d add to our list? If so, please visit our Facebook page, leave a comment and let us know.
