At AGC of Washington, safety is everything.
As a recognized safety leader in the commercial construction industry, we make an effort to help keep our members (and their teams) healthy and injury-free. We’re able to do this, in part, thanks to our Safety Benefits program. Upon joining, your organization automatically gains access to a variety of important safety resources, including:
1.) Job-site consultations. How safe is your job site? Are tools and equipment stored according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines? Does everyone on your staff know where to find and access personal protective equipment? If you’re unsure about the answers to these or other similar questions, get in touch. A job-site visit (and assessment) from a qualified professional can alert you to areas that need improvement. That can prevent injuries or accidents in the long run and ensure you finish on time, without having to worry about potential penalties or fines.
2.) Safety forums (in-person and online). Throughout the year, we host safety forums, both in-person and online, that present an opportunity to stay informed of best practices and regulatory changes. These events make it easy to interact with fellow AGC members, allowing you to glean information and insights that can keep your team members safe and healthy.
3.) Safety classes from the AGC Education Foundation. As a professional contractor, it’s important to invest in continuing education. The AGC Education Foundation makes it easy to do just that. Some of the most popular courses include first-aid, OSHA 10 and 30-hour training, and hazard-specific training. Classes are held throughout the month and AGC of Washington members receive a discount on tuition.
4.) Soft-tissue injury prevention tools. Contractors are particularly susceptible to repetitive use soft-tissue injuries like sprains and strains. We offer various tools to member firms that can minimize discomfort while on the job, lowering the risk of long-term discomfort and disability. Even small changes, like practicing good posture or holding tools differently, can relieve tension on your muscles, tendons and joints, improving your quality of life.
5.) Job-site posters. The federal and state government require commercial construction sites to post specific safety signage. As an AGC of Washington member, you automatically have access to these materials. Simply get in touch, let us know what you need, and we’ll get them to you right away.
