The average annual wage in Washington increased to $89,138 in 2023. This will affect unemployment insurance (UI) taxes and benefits, paid family and medical leave benefits and workers’ compensation benefits. The UI taxable wage base is increasing from $68,500 to $72,800, and employers will pay UI taxes on the first $72,800 paid to an employee starting in January. Learn more here.
