How to get the most from your AGCW membership

Your AGC of Washington membership is a major asset for your team. But are you getting all you can from it? Too often, we find our members aren’t fully aware of the access they have right at their fingertips with AGCW. We want to flip the script on that. Here’s what you can do today to make this powerful network of construction professionals, experts, and advocates work for you.

Check our events calendar regularly. We like to flag big items to make sure you all know what’s coming down the road, but there are always things on the schedule that are of interest to many without necessarily being one of the biggest events of the season. Some of these events are gems that might not seem eye-catching at first glance; others are niche topics to most that perfectly answer a big issue you’ve been scratching your head over. Either way, there’s a huge range of events hosted by and with AGCW, and unless you’re keeping tabs on it, you’re sure to miss some gold.

Read up on our news items. Knowledge is power, and we’re trying to get as much of it as possible to our membership. From press releases and full-on info guides to the biggest political and economic issues that affect our industry, the news function of AGCW is a great way to stay informed on the things that matter.

Don’t be a stranger! It might sound cliche, but this is a situation where you really do get out what you put in. Staying involved is a great way to catch everything AGCW plus gain valuable experience that you’ll take with you wherever your career may go. Volunteering to lead a training, host a function, or even to serve on one of our committees does a lot to help the group while at the same time opening you and your firm to a new world of networking opportunities with fellow leaders of our industry.

Second, be sure to come by an orientation session whenever the next one rolls around — these sessions are a great way to get up to speed on many different fronts.
