L&I unveils new system for meeting public-works requirements

A new online platform aims to make it easier for contractors to meet the requirements of public-works projects. The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) developed the system.

Within the virtual portal, called the Contractors’ Portal, contractors can:

• File intents and affidavits
• View L&I’s status of releasing retainage
• Verify multiple contractors at the same time including status of license and workers’ compensation, and any debarments from bidding

After touring the new system, contractors are encouraged to take a two-minute survey sharing their experience and offering suggestions for improvements.

Contractors can also click through to a list of upcoming training events to learn more about public-works project requirements.
