Mark your calendar for these Retro Think-Tank meetings during October 2015

All AGC of Washington members are invited—and encouraged—to attend their respective upcoming Retro Think Tank meeting during October 2015.  You will leave the meetings with your 2016 proposed EMR along with valuable information designed to save you time and money by lowering L&I rates and maximizing premium refunds.

In this blog post, we’ll walk you through a few changes this year and provide an overview of how these meetings are operated. Whether you’re a new member or a longtime partner of AGC of Washington, we hope it’s a helpful refresher.

New this year: Preferred Worker Program updates, online Report of Accident completion
First, keep in mind a few recent changes to the Preferred Worker Program. For years, we pushed for, and testified on, new legislation that now expands the benefits of the premium discount and claim indemnification protection to the Employer of Injury. This applies when offering a full-time modified job to an injured employee with permanent restrictions. There is also a new $10,000 reimbursement to employers.

Second, please note best practices to complete the Report of Accident online, which helps maintain your claims-free discount, ensures the wage-replacement rate is accurate and so on.

What you’ll gain from attending
There are several benefits of participating in these sessions, including:

• Your company’s proposed 2016 Experience Modification Rate (EMR) and details on how to review it and ensure it is correct. A one-page handout about how to protest will be provided. (Hint: We do that for you!)
• A brief overview of how the EMR is calculated (L&I will speak to the calculation and answer questions)
• New knowledge of some key practices to help resolve claim issues sooner, lower your experience rate and maximize your refund
